Welcome one and all,
A spare 5 minutes and another news article :) I must say I've been looking at some new bits of hardware recently since I've been thinking of upgrading, it's quite startling the amount of kit available... and buying the wrong pieces could be devastating to your wallet.
So what's the best PC to buy? Well, good question. First off, I'd rule out Tiny/Time. It's wrong to laugh manically, but ...you gotta really. If you're really really REALLY not wanting to build a PC yourself, go for Dell... or maybe HP/Compaq...
But what I'd really recommend, is building your own :) Now, AMD or Intel...the choice is yours.
Here's a really quick and easy way to decide who you're going to go with......
Do you have stupid amounts of money just lying around doing nothing?
If the answer to that is Yes, then sure, go for Intel... I however, am on a strict budget, since I wanna get some really REALLY nice kit, but don't have billions to spare.
A good pc will always start with a good motherboard, and good power supply. It's not like there are good/bad chips per say, but you must be careful what you buy... buying an old cpu with old technology inside it could seriously affect your geek power, and we dont want that do we? DO WE? no...lets move on.
Motherboard, what make?! Theres so many... well, I'll be honest. It's hard to pick a true winner. There are many good motherboard manufacturers (be warned, there are some REALLY crap ones). I'd personally recommend Abit, ASUS, or maybe, MSI. You need to get the right chipset, and the right socket. Once you've got a good motherboard planned out, then you can look for the CPU. Sort some Memory, a Power Supply (must be decent!) and a good Hard Drive. Then of course, you need a case to whack it all together in. Dont forget if you want a decent gaming machine, you'll need a Sound Card and Graphics Card seperately...
Although I'd love to sit here and take you through it right this second, I've got to go. My "spare" 5 minutes are up. Stay tuned though, I'll be taking you through the whole process, in fact, I'll be demonstrating EXACTLY what PC I buy, and the benchmark results accordingly.
See ya soon b0rked fans
